2253 | Early Niagara census records show a Samuel or Samson Lutz as head of one of the first 12 European households in Niagara in 1783. As George would have been only 19 at the time, it is presumed that Samuel is his father. Presumably a different Samuel Lutz is shown in the 1828 census as Samuel Loot living in Bertie Township (present-day Fort Erie), Welland County, Ontario, and living with 2 males under 16. However the record show a total of 4 people living in the house. It is presumed that the census taker forgot to record Samuel's wife. The ages of the children suggest this Samuel would likely be a son to the present Samuel Lutz and a brother to George. | Lutz, Samuel (I9056)

Ann's mother-in-law, Susanna Tonge, continued to reside at Cane Acres until her death Aug. 18, 1828, at the age of 86 years. Ann had no children by Edward, and awhile after his death in 1809 she married a man named Gist and went to live in Union County, S. C. In her possession was a big bible which had belonged to her father, James Stewart, and placed within it was the family lineage running back to King Robert II of Scotland which her grandfather, Patrick Stewart, had had his son Charles write out from "uncontroverted history." They were both residing at 196 Hamilton Street (a row house located in Atherton on the outskirts of Bolton), Manchester, Lancashire, England, at the time of their marriage. They already had two children. In 1881, at age 34, Ellen was residing at 27 Cardiff Street in Harpurhey, Prestwich, Manchester, Lancashire, England with her husband and their sons, John, William T., Daniel, and Richard. Her place of birth is given as Rhydham, Wales, however, no such place has been found. Likely this is a transcription error for Rhyddlan/Rhuddlan. In 1891, at age 44, Ellen was residing at 16 Baythorpe Street in Little Bolton, Lancashire, England, with her husband and children. In 1901, at age 54, Ellen Jones was residing at 97 Grasmere Street in Bolton, Lancashire, England, with her husband and children. Her place of birth was given as Rhylan, Flintshire, Wales. Two possible occurrences for Ellen can be found in the 1861 census: 1. Ellen Evans, b: 1848 in Llanasa, Flintshire (about 5 miles east of Rhuddlan), working as a scullery maid in an inn owned by Owen Roberts, living in Rhuddlan. As she is only 13 it is presumed that she is orphaned. 2. Ellen Evans, b: 1849 in Rhyl (2 miles from Rhuddlan), living with her family in Llangelnwen, Angelsey, Wales. Father: Edward Evans is a brick maker. Mother: Jane. Siblings: Edward, John (Ellen's twin), Sarah, & William. | Evans, Eleanor (Ellen) (I5740)
