268 1881 Canadian, American, and British census show no record of Alfrid Barnes. Presumably he died before 1881. Barnes, Alfrid (I717)

269 1881 census appears to show William Hardy in Chatham with a new wife, Sarah. It is not certain that it is the same William. If it is, then it is presumed that Ann Tasker died before 1881. Her marriage record gives her place of birth as England. Tasker, Ann (I19083)

270 1881 Census lists Elizabeth as a widow, age 36, born in Rutherglen. Several children are missing too. Perhaps they were dead or moved out. Marriage certificate lists her as age 19 in 1861. She signed her marriage register with an "x". Wilson, Elizabeth (I20152)

282 1881 Census shows Sarah with her husband and family and an additional person, Robert Roberts, who is shown as her son. It appears that Robert was born illegitimately when Sarah was 18 years old, before she married John Angus. This is further strengthened by an IGI birth record for a Robert Thomas Roberts, exactly the right age, shown as the illegitimate son of Sarah Roberts. However this birth is in Wales. It appears that Sarah may have moved to Wales with her lover, where she had her son, and then returned home to Lancashire afterwards. It is also possible that the Robert Roberts in the census is her younger brother, mistakenly recorded. Roberts, Sarah (I13664)
