No record of a Sands family has been found in Kilmadock, however a cluster of Sands has been found in Port of Menteith with a Mary SANDS bap 9 MAY 1784 daughter of Robert Sands and Jean McLea, which is a perfect onomastic match. According to Dave & Linda Magiske | Sands, Mary (I14089)

| Mary Jane Kellett was born in East Bradford, Yorkshire, England in 1860. She is found in 1861 and 1871 residing with her parents. In 1881, Mary Jane Kellett has not been found, but there is a Mary J Watmuff, who is the same age, residing with Mary Jane Kellett's parents and shown as born in Bradford. She is shown as a married boarder. It is suggested that they're likely the same person. However, in 1891-1911, Mary Watmuff is found with her husband John Henry Watmuff and their children, and shown as being born in either Thornbury or Wilsden which are both in west Bradford. The only record for a Mary Watmuff in 1881 is the Mary Jane Watmuff who was residing with the Kellett family. No marriage record has been found for either John Henry Watmuff or Mary Jane Kellett to confirm that they are husband and wife. Thus, there may be two different Mary Jane Watmuffs, or Mary Jane Kellett may not be the same person as Mary Jane Watmuff, despite residing with the Kellett family in 1881 and matching age. | Kellett, Mary Jane (I23535)

| Mary McKenna's existence is conifrmed by photographic evidence and descendants. She is believed to have been born in 1856 in Aghaloo, Tyrone, Northern Ireland as the daughter of Patrick McKenna and Elizabeth Brown. Her parents died when she was young leaving her and her siblings orphaned. It is believed they were riased by their uncle, John Brown, latterly in Portadawn. Leelie King notes some confusion as to whether Mary is Mary Brown or Mary McKenna. Birth record for Charles lists his mother as Mary Brown (Haddock). Family group sheets given to Shirley Hull Petersen, noted Brown as an alias for Mary McKenna. Married at Parish Church of St Werburghis, Dublin. Mary 'Brown', father John a farmer. John Haddock, father John a gunsmith. Leslie King notes Ancestry account "MargaretPaul39" is the surce for a Name Change: As per an email from Robert in Ireland & Lib. in Sydney, 'it would appear that Mary eloped we think and to do so changed her name from McKenna to Brown. Brown being her mother's maiden name'. 4 years ago MargaretPaul39 It is alleged that Mary Brown signed the 1912 Covenant. Leslie King notes perhaps Mary used the alias Brown and listed John Brown as her father on her marriage record because of Uncle John Brown. He might have taken the McKenna children in when they were orphaned. | McKenna, Mary Brown (I21086)

| Mary presumably died as a child prior to the birth of her same-named sister. | Stewart, Mary (I17617)

| Mary Shaw is recorded as being from Anwoth in Galloway, Scotland. Anwoth is in Kirkubrightshire in the area of Galloway. The only Angus birth in Anwoth is Mary's daughter, Elizabeth Angus. There are no Shaw births in the parish. There are 42 possible births for a Mary Shaw in Scotland between 1780-1790. The most promising is: SHAW, MARY, dtr of THOMAS SHAW/AGNES TEMPLETON FR105 (FR105), F, 21/03/1784, in RICCARTON, Kilmarnock (about 120 km north of Anwoth). Mary Angus died sometime after the birth of her last child in 1823 and prior to the 1841 census. Her exact date of death is unknown. No record of her death has been found. | Shaw, Mary (I14225)

| Mary Stewart is recorded in the Balquhidder OPR as "Decr 15 1854, Robert Stewart Farm Servant Laggan and Christian Stewart residing there? had a child begotten in fornication born 1 Feby 1854 baptd named Mary." This Robert is suspected as being Robert Stewart, bap 22 DEC 1823 in Immervoulin in Strathyre, son of Peter Stewart in Immervoulin. If so, then Robert's sister, Janet, was the wife of Robert Stewart, 2nd of Laggan. In 1861, at age 7, Mary Stewart was residing at 13 Callander Road in Strathyre Village, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, with her mother. Residing with her was her 83 year old great-aunt Margaret McLaren (born 1778 in Balquhidder. Believed to be born 6 Jan 1777 in Balquhidder to Duncan McLaren and Girsel Lindsay.) In 1871, at age 17, Mary Stewart was residing at Immereon in Glenbuckie, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, with her mother. She was working as a domestic servant for her uncle, John Stewart. In 1881, at age 29, Mary Stewart was residing on Glenfinglas Road in Auchnahard, Glen Finglas, Callander, Perthshire, Scotland, with her paternal aunt, Marjory Stewart and her husband Charles Stewart. Mary was employed as general domestic servant. Mary has not been identified in 1891. She may have married an unknown person, emigrated, or died. | Stewart, Mary (I17629)
| Mary Stewart is recorded in the Comrie OPR as being the wife of Duncan McNab from Easter Glentarken. She is presumed to be the daughter of Alexander Stewart whose son Robert was living in Easter Glentarken at the same time. | Stewart, Mary in Easter Glentarken (I22210)
| Mary Stewart married her third-cousin, John STEWART, 2nd of Benmore. He bought the lands of Glenbuckie from his ailing bother-in-law, Alexander Stewart, 12th of Glenbuckie. and became 13th of Glenbuckie. John and Mary had no children. From here, the lands of Glenbuckie passed into the hands of the Stewarts of Benmore (a cadet branch of the Stewarts of Ardsheal of Clan Stewart of Appin). Stewarts of the South records that she married secondly to Cameron of Callard. MacGregor records that they died without issue. Gordon MacGregor, The Red Book of Scotland, says, "Mary Stewart, married on 8 August 1752, to John Stewart of Benmore, (he died without children in 1760), and died without children. Mary and John's marriage is double registered on 1 AUG 1752 in the Callander and Balquhidder OPRs: Breacnachoile, Callander, Perthshire, Scotland (recorded as "clandestinely" and she is described as "Mrs. Mary Stewart, perhaps implying that she was previously married). It was also listed amongst the baptisms: "John Stewart of Beinvore and Mrs. Mary Stewart, daughter of Glenbuckie were clandestinely married 1 AUG 1752." It was also listed on 8 AUG 1752 in Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland. | Stewart, Mary (I17646)
| Mary Stewart was born in 1774 in Easter Ardeonaig, Killin, Perthshire, Scotland. Her mother's name at her baptism was recorded as Kat. McKercher. ("S.D. Alex'r Stuart and and Kat. McKercher Easter Ardeonaig had their lawful dau'r bap. called Mary." Killin OPR) According to The Stewarts of Ardvorlich Vol 3, Mary Stewart "married Duncan Ferguson, firstly a shepherd at Gleninishach, Balquhidder, latterly a crofter at Coilcreich." Gleninishach (Glen Ishag) is located in the uppermost Braes of Balquhidder west of Drumlich. Coilcreich is adjacent to Ardveich. On 1 DEC 1799, in Port Menteith, Perthshire, Scotland, Mary Stewart married Duncan Ferguson. The record indicates they were both in Port of Menteith parish at the time. It's not known why they were married so far away in Port of Menteith. It's possible the Port of Menteith marriage could be a different couple with the same names, but the date is a perfect match and the Port of Menteith OPR shows no couple by that name having children in the years after 1799. In 1851, at age 75, Mary Stewart was residing in Coilcreich in Glenbeich, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland, with her husband Duncan Ferguson (75). | Stewart, Mary (I17637)
| Mary Stewart was born in 1798 in Stronvar, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, although no record of Mary's baptism has been found. This is according to family records through her McItyre descendants which matches with the fact that her father James Og Stewart was residing at Stronvar at the time. On 28 JUN 1828 in Campbelltown, Argyll, Scotland, Mary Stewart married to distant cousin, Peter McIntyre, who was from Carnlia, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, son of Duncan McIntyre and Margaret Stewart, of the McIntyre Family of Carnlia. Peter's mother, Margaret Stewart, descends from Donald Stewart in Keip (Stewarts of Dalveich Line 3). They began their family in Campbelltown, Argyll, Scotland and then, in June/July 1831, they immigrated to Horton, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada. In 1851, at age 54, Mary McIntyre was residing in Horton, Renfew, Ontario, Canada, with her husband Peter McIntyre, a farmer, and their children, John, Jane, James, Helen, Findlay and Christina. In 1861, at age 62, Mary McIntyre was residing in Horton, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada, with her husband Peter McIntyre, a farmer, and their adult children, John, Mary, Margaret, Jane, James, Ellen, Finlay, Christian along with grandchildren, Peter and Mary Jane. In 1871, at age 73, Mary McIntyre was residing in Admaston, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada, with her husband, Peter McIntyre, a farmer, and their 12 year old granddaughter, Jane McIntyre, and an unnamed 5 year old granddaughter. They were living nextdoor to their sons John and Findlay who had families of their own. In 1881, at age 83, Mary McIntyre, a widow, was residing in the village of Renfew, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada, with her daughter Margaret. Mary died 3 DEC 1884 in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada. | Stewart, Mary (I17647)
| Mary Stewart was born in 1802 in the clachan of Morell, Easter Glentarken, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland. The Comrie OPR records her place of birth as "Moril." She was the third daughter of Robert Stewart and Catharine McNaughtan. It is not known if she married. Her whereabouts after immigration is unknown. 1842 census records indicate that three of the eldest daughters were resident in the Stewart household in Puslinch, but by 1851 these daughters had moved elsewhere. It's not known for certain if Mary was one of the three. Mary's brother Peter Stewart recorded in his journal that one of his sisters was married prior to emigrating and that her husband contracted cholera and died on the journey from Scotland and that the family had to be quarantined because of this. Peter does not record which sister this was, but family tradition among Duncan Stewart's descendants maintained that it was the oldest sister. However this has now been shown to be incorrect as Margaret Stewart was married to William McCallum in Glasgow, prior to emigrating, and they are both found alive in Hamilton in 1851. Thus it may have been Mary whose husband died. | Stewart, Mary (I17503)
| Mary Stewart was born in 1869 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA, though her family was originally from Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. In 1870, Mary was residing in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, USA with her parents and older sister. About 1873, her family moved back to Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada. In 1881, Mary was residing in Hamlton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada with her parents and siblings. In 1901, a matching Mary Stewart is found residing in Welland, Ontario, Canada, not employed. She is living with 41 year old Charles Howell who is identified as her uncle. I can find no such uncle on the Stewart side. The birth date given for Mary in the census does not match, but the year does and she's born in the USA. Mary also married that same year in Welland to John Leith, so finding her in Welland in 1901 is consistent. It's possible that Charles Howell was an uncle of John Leith. In 1911, Mary was residing in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada with her husband. They had no children. They were residing in the home of her parents along with her sister Margaret and Margaret's husband. In 1921, Mary was residing in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada with her husband and widowed father. They had no children. No record has been found of Mary's death. She is the only member of her extended family who is not recorded on the family headstone. Her husband John Leith is listed, but Mary is not. It appears that Mary was the last of her family to die and that there may have been no surviving family member to ensure that her name was added to the stone. Mary had no children and her siblings had no surviving children. If she outlived her husband passed 1964, then her closest surviving relatives in Canada would have been her first-cousin, once-removed, John Stewart Brown (this author's grandfather), or one of the similarly distant McCullough cousins on her mother's side. | Stewart, Mary Elizabeth (I17774)
| Mary Stewart was residing with her parents in 1851 and 1861. Her later whereabouts is unknown. | Stewart, Mary May (I26138)
