| 7411 | Upon the death of his elder brother, John Stewart in Alloa, Duncan Stewart would have inherited the seniority of the Stewarts in Tulloch. According to Stewarts of the South, Duncan resided in Ledcreich, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland and he was deceased at the time that the document was written about 1815-1820. However OPR data shows his residences at the time of his children's births as being Invercarnaig and Blarcreich. Whether Stewarts of the South is in error on the location or whether Duncan lived in all three places is not known. The OPR data shown here is not confirmed but represents an excellent match. According to OPR data, Duncan Stewart married on 17 DEC 1783 in Balquhidder and 2 JAN 1784 in Callander parishes to Margaret McGregor, (Duncan of Balquhidder parish and Margaret from Callander parish). His mother and wife had the same names. | Stewart, Duncan in Ledcreich and Invercarnaig (I15502)
|
| 7412 | Upon the death of his father, John Stewart would have inherited the seniority of the Stewarts in Tulloch. His family disappears from records after 1820. It is suggested that the seniority of the Stewarts in Tulloch may have passed to his younger brother, Duncan Stewart in Campsie. John is described in Stewarts of the South as "John Stewart, his nephew, is a shepherd at Tulloch. (John was son to Duncan Stewart, a late tacksman at Ledchrich, Braes of Balquhidder.) He has one son who is a minor. He has one son who is a minor." He married on 23 DEC 1813 in Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland to Margaret Stewart (both in this parish). Balquhidder parish records show John as having three children, including two sons, however only his first son was likely born at the time that Stewarts of the South was written. This family has not been found in later census records and may have moved elsewhere or emigrated. As several other branches of this family immigrated to Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada about 1818, it's possible John Stewart followed. | Stewart, John in Tulloch (I16850)
