  It is not certain that the birth shown here for this James is correct. However, James is buried in St. Bride's Chapel at the Annie in Strathyre with the rest of this McKinlay family and recorded as a tacksman of Inverchagernie. And his son Ewan married into the Stewarts of Auchnahard and immigrated with them to Ontario, Canada. So the circumstantial evidence for the connection is extremely strong.
