  Margaret Black was born in 1867 in Puslinch, Wellington, Ontario, Canada. Her mother died during the birth. In 1881, at age 13, Margaret was residing in Puslinch, Wellington, Ontario, Canada with her father, step-mother, and siblings. In 1883, Margaret's future husband, Archibald Mclarty, moved to Tacoma, Pierce, Washington, USA. This would make Archie one of the earliest of several Puslinch residents in the Ord and Tait extended family to move to Tacoma. He returned in 1887 to marry Margaret Ord and then returned with her to Tacoma. Archibald was a fireman in a gas factory. In 1900, Margaret was residing in Tacoma, Pierce, Washington USA with her husband Archibald and their children Malcolm and John. In 1910, Margaret was residing in Stillwater (Vader), Lewis, Washington, USA with her husband and children. Stillwater is about 10 km east of Seattle. (Confusingly, there are two places named Stillwater in Washington. It appears they lived in Vader on the Stillwater Creek in Lewis County.) In 1920, at age 52, Margaret was residing in Stillwater (Vader), Lewis, Washington, USA with her husband and two of their children, Clarence and Margaret. Margaret's husband, Archibald, died in 1926.
