  131st King of Ireland Mor = "The Great" "mac Earca" is a patronymic from his mother's side, who was the daughter of the King of Dalriada. Muirchertach's brother Fergus was the prince who defeated the Picts and founded the Scottish dynasties of Dalriada in Argyll, from which all the later Kings of Scots descend. Muirchertach "The Great" reigned in Ulster for 24 years and died naturally in his bed (which was rare among Irish kings) on All Hallow's Eve 527. He possessed the Liath Fail, the marble coronation seat and sent it to Scotland for his brother to be crowned. The Liath Fail remained in Scotland as the coronation stone of the Kings of Scots until the time of Edward Longshanks. The Liath Fail became known as the "Stone of Destiny".
