- From the Wellington County Historical Atlas, 1905: "[Continued from Ord, Andrew...] Robert farms the homestead. He has been one of the Road Commisioners for years, and does contract work on the roads in Puslinch.
"[His brother] John A. in 1898 bought the Reid estate of 118 acres, front lot 24, concession 8. He carries on mixed farming, and has had contracts building Puslinch roads for years. He was said to be the best road maker in Puslinch Township. He is a Presbyterian, and an Independent in politics. He married Nettie Black. Issue: Andrew W., Janet E., John L., Florence I., Robert G., and Thomas Alexander."

On 22 Aug 1894, John married in Puslinch, Wellington, Ontario, Canda to Janetta E Black. "(Wellington Co.) John A. ORD, 24, farmer, Canada, Puslinch, s/o Andrew ORD & Flora McLARTY, married Jannette E. BLACK, 24, Canada, Puslinch, d/o William BLACK & Isabel AMOS, wtn: Mary Jane ORD & Mrs. Wm. In 1905, John's wife, Nettie, inherited the Black family farm after her brother was murdered in Montana, USA.
In 1911, at age 41, John was residing in Aberfoyle Village, Puslinch, Wellington, Ontario, Canada with his wife and children. He was employed as a farmer.
In 1921, at age 51, John was residing in Puslinch, Wellington, Ontario, Canada, with his wife and kids. He was employed as a farmer on his own farm, employing three workers.
In 1922, at age 52, on the death of his older brother, Robert Ord, John inherited the Ord family farm in Puslinch, bringing their holdings to three substantial farms.
