• Notes

  Nigel was educated at Winchester College and also Royal Military College, Sandhurst, where he gained the sword of honour. Lt Nigel Neis Ramsay 2nd Battalion Black Watch, Royal Highlanders, was killed in action at Magersfontein during the Boer War on the 11th December 1899, aged 23 years. A rather unique memorial to him is located inside St Ninians Episcopal Church, Alyth. A brass effigy of Lt. Ramsay exists in the church and is available for brass rubbings.
