  It's possible that Alexander is from a different family as it is unexpected that he would be born in Edinburgh. It's easily possible that there was a second family in Edinburgh with parents Charles Stewart and Margaret Stewart who only had one recorded (as there is no record of any other children to such a couple in Edinburgh), but this Alexander fits perfectly both onomastically and chronologically with the family of Alexander and Margaret Stewart from Grodich. So it would seem that Alexander and his wife had business in Edinburgh in 1792 and that Elizabeth gave birth to Alexander (Jr) while they were in Edinburgh. It is further suggested that Alexander died young prior to the birth of his same-named brother in 1796.
