  Alexander's name is not known for sure. He is a descendant of the Stewarts of Gartnafuaran VI Branch - Stewarts of Coille Mor (on Loch Lomond). The name "Alexander" is suggested by onomastics only. He is suggested as the father of Andrew and James, but this is not verified. Andrew and James, are not shown in Stewarts of the South as brothers. However the fact that the Mill of Cubail-Larach appears to have passed from James to Andrew after James's son moved to Buchanan would suggest that James and Andrew were closely related. The simplest relationship of brothers is presently preferred, however this relationship is not verified. As Andrew had only one known son, namely Alexander, it is suggested that Andrew's (and James') father was named Alexander, however, this too is not verified.
