  MacGregor indicates that Alexander died unmarried without children. Nowhere is Alexander recorded as "2nd in Balmeanach" however his date of death post-dates his father's death and thus he must have been next in line ahead of his brother Robert to inherit Balimeanach. MacGregor indicates that he sold the lands of Ballimeanach to Robert Stewart (3rd) of Ardvorlich, on 2 January 1682. It is unclear if the property of Balimeanach then went to Alexander's younger brother, Robert, thus we now style the later families as "in" Bellemeanoch rather than "of" Ballemeanoch. Alexander had no children.
