Notes |
- Archibald is named in the family bible and thus survived to adulthood, but nothing is known about his adult life. However, he is presumed to have died during the lifetime of his father, otherwise he would would have preceeded his younger brother, Donald, in inheriting the estate of Lendrick.
The following is also from the Glassingall Court of Session Papers (1849-1856):: "Certified copy of what is written in the family bible Lendrick 1756 that I bought this [presumably referring to the bible] for 4 pounds Scots money out of Glasgow written and signed by me Archibald Stewart.
On account of my age and when the year of God I was born 1712 and married in year of God 1737 and Margaret was born in the year of God 1739 and was married in February 1763. So, Isabel was born in August 1741 and Archibald was born in November 1749 and Donald was born about the 1st of August 1757. On account when my father and mother dyed [died], my father dyed the year of God 1740 and was buried in his own spulcher [sepulchre], and my mother dyed the year of God,"
