  According to Stewarts of the South, the surviving senior male line descendant of Rob Duibh Mhoir Stewart was Robert McDonachie Stewart who has been identified in Callander parish records as having married in 1766 to Janet Black and was likely born about 1730. Robert's patronymic, McDonachie, is an Anglicization of the Gaelic mac Donnachaidh, which means "son of Duncan." Thus we can conclude with reasonable certainty that Robert's father was named Duncan Stewart. Possible marriages 1724, Duncan STUART in this paroch and Christ: MCGREGOR in the paroch of Balquhidder listed themselves to be proclaimed in order to marriage Nov 14th and after orderly proclamation were married Dec 7th.
