• Notes

  According to Stewarts of the South, Daniel was an apprentice to James Tod, a merchant in Edinburgh. He married to Jean Erskine, although no record of their marriage has been found. Donald's nephew Dr. David Stewart, son of Alexander Stewart, 10th of Glenbuckie, in his will says, "I David Stewart at Brainchyle son of Alexander Stewart of Glenbuckie nominate Alexander Stewart my cousin, lawful son of Deceased Donald Stewart sometime tanner in Edinburgh and his heirs which failing Donald Stewart brother of Alexander Stewart also my cousin and his heirs to be my executors."
