- Donald Stewart was a natural son by an unknown mother. His existence is not confirmed. He represents one possible interpretation of the following reference in Stewarts of the South: "Alastir mac Dhoal (it is believed that "Dhoal" is phonetic contraction of Domhnall, or Donald in English), [a] tacksman of Duncragan [in] Callander parish, [on the Earl of] Perth's estate, [which] now [belongs to] Sir Patrick Murray of Auchtertyre. [Alastir] was of a bastard line."
