  DUBIOUS CLAIM The following claimed family is dubious. Janet is not mentioned in her father's 1763 genealogy, nor is her baptism found in the Balquhidder parish register. She is claimed without evidence by descendants to have remained in Scotland when the rest of her family emigrated in 1739 and subsequently moved to Fortingall and married John McLean. Given that she is estimated to have been about 10-years-old when her family emigrated, it is unlikely that Patrick would have left his ten-year-old daughter behind. It is more likely that she died in childhood.
