• Notes

  Henry ("Harry") Stewart was mortally wounded at the battle of Tippermuir, fighting alongside his father for the Royalist cause. In the aftermath of the battle, Henry's father, James Beag Stewart, killed Lord Kilpont and was forced to flee the camp leaving Harry behind to die of his wounds. This account comes from the later Robert Stewart of Ardvorlich from a letter sent to Sir Walter Scott and printed in the preface to A Legend of Montrose.
