  James is recorded in Stewarts of the South as "James, [a] brother to "Sean Rob" came to Glenfinglas about three generations back (ca. 1720) and became tacksman of Grodich at Glenfinglas". James is also believed to be the "James Stewart in Glenfinglas" who was one of the tutors to his cousin's son, Alexander Stewart in Duart, in 1708 (see above).
