• Notes

  McInnes Stewart, another descendant of Archibald of Landrick, offers the following testimony in the Glassingall Court of Session Papers (1849-1856): "As for the settlement of 1777 in which Archibald calls on the failure of his sister and their issue (sic), Archibald and William, the lawful sons of his uncle Robert Stewart...." From this testimony it would appear that Archibald and William were the only sons of Robert to reach adulthood and that neither had descendants."
