  Janes' family claims a broken, unverified descent from John Brown of Priesthill, starting with Matthew Brown (b 29 Apr 1733), father of: Robert Brown, b 1782 in Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland, m 1801 in Paisley to Jean Caldwell, b 1774 in Paisley. Immigrated to Rockside, Peel, Ontario, Canada in 1834. Parents of: John Brown of Caledon, Peel, Ontario, Canada. Jane Brown, herein. Jane Brown's marriage was witnessed by a William Brown and Alex Mclean. Jane had two brothers, John and Robert, who first became teachers, then Congregationalist ministers who served various congregations in Ontario, Canada before moving to Pilot Mound, Manitoba, Canada and eventually to Tacoma, Washington State, USA where they both died in 1892. Jane immigrated in 1885 with her husband to Tacoma, Washington, USA. Jane outlived her husband, who died in 1893. She is listed in a Tacoma Directory in 1895 as the widow of John W Tait. Between 1895-1899 her son John L Tait moved to Chicago, Illinois, USA. It's not known if Jane moved with him or stayed in Tacoma.
