  Janet Stewart is the "Mrs. Stewart of Laggan" mentioned in the following reference from The Ardvorlich History (Glenfinglas Section): "John [Stewart] of the Grodich married Mary, a daughter of Duncan Stewart, son of John Bhan Stewart. This John married a Caleb [Stewart] sister of Mrs. Charles Stewart and Mrs. Stewart of Laggan." According to Mrs Stewart of Milton’s account: “There was a crofter in Strathyre named Stewart. He had three daughters: Margaret who married John (my cousin) son of John Stewart, Grodich; Marjory married Charles who died in Callander, and Janet married Stewart farmer in Laggan. Janet was a "Caleb Stewart", that is, a descendant of Branch III of the Stewarts of Glenogle. Janet's grandfather's half-brother was Caleb Stewart in Laggan. In 1851 Janet's uncle, Daniel Stewart, is shown residing with the family in Laggan. The 1881 census shows Charles living on Glenfinglas Road, Auchnahard. The Ardvorlich History says that Charles married Marjory Stewart who was as “a Caleb, John of Grodich’s sister”. The Caleb Stewarts were a cadet branch of the Stewarts of Glenogle. Marjory was actually sister-in-law of John Stewart of Grodich rather than his sister, but 19th century Scottish custom did not differentiate between sister and sister-in-law. According to Mrs. Stewart of Milton’s Account, Charles was a son of Alexander Stewart in Auchnahard. She says later: “Charles Stewart before mentioned (brother of John and James in the Braes of Balquhidder) died in Callander.” John STEWART , in Grodich b: ABT 4 AUG 1818 in Grodich, Glenfinglas, Callander, Perthshire, Scotland. He remained in Glenfinglas and is found as late as 1881 still residing in Grodich. He married on 2 DEC 1856 in Laggan, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland to Margaret STEWART b: 25 FEB 1828 in Immervuline, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of Peter Stewart of the “Caleb Stewarts” of the Glenogle Branch.
