In 1861, at age 46, Janet Stewart was residing by herself at Edinburgh and Glasgow Road, Holytown, Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
In 1871, at age 55, Janet Stewart was residing at Holytown, Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland, with her cousin John Stewart (14).
In 1881, at age 66, Janet Stewart was residing at Holytown, Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland, with her brother, John Stewart (63), and her cousin John Stewart (24). She was employed as a domestic servant.
In 1882, Janet's brother, John died. She is named in his testament as executrix and joint-heir along with John's "nephew", John Stewart Jr, son of John Stewart, portioner of Larkhill, believed to be the John Stewart residing with them in 1881 and shown as a cousin. Janet Stewart, boot and shoe merchant, single, 27 December 1888, died in Holytown, Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland, age 73 years, daughter of John Stewart, ploughman, and Janet Stewart (maiden name Stewart). The informant was Jean? Stewart, cousin. (The informant is likely John Stewart, cousin, who was residing with her in 1881.)
