Notes - Some unverified online genealogies allege that John Stewart moved to Lochtayside Kenmore, Perthshire, Scotland, where he was Ground Officer and Factor to John Campbell, 2nd Earl of Breadalbane. This is a plausible appointment as the Ledcreich Stewarts appear to have been allied at the time to John Campbell, Earl of Argyll and Marquis of Lorne, cousin to the Earl of Breadalbane.
These same genealogies allege that he was the father of Peter Stewart, born 1775 in Loch Tayside, Kenmore Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, died 14 DEC 1857 in Breadalbane, Glengarry, Ontario, Canada, who married Christian McLean. This connection has now been ruled out by Y-DNA.
