  John Dubh Mhor Stewart had eight sons who all grew to adulthood and had descendants. Following traditional custom, his third son would have been named John. However no documentary evidence has been found to confirm the existence of this John. It's possible that this John's descendants failed in the male line or emigrated and were unknown to the author of Stewarts of the South.
