  In 1881 John is found in Easter Torrie residing with his sister and brother Donald and Margaret and his uncle Donald. In 1881 John is employing 15 year old Kenneth McColl (born Comrie, birth not found) as a farm servant. Census records consistently show John as having been born in Callander, not Aberfoyle where he was baptised. It's possible that he was only baptised in Aberfoyle, and not born there. The Aberfoyle OPR has not yet been consulted. In 1891 John is residing with father John b 1859 (sic) in Balquhidder (recorded as "Father") mother, Elizabeth, b 1821 in Fortingall cousin Jean McGregor, b 1877 in Stirling, Stirling brother Walter, b 1859 in Aberfoyle and his daughter Bella (Betta?) b 1887 in Edinburgh Alexander Stewart, b 1843 in Kilmadock, farm servant (no known relation) John was the manager of Easter Torrie at the time of his parents' deaths in 1893 and 1894.
