Notes |
- It is not certain that John belongs to this family. No marriage record has been found for Alexander and Elizabeth Stewart, so it is difficult to know if there were two couples with the same name; one in Ardcheanochdan and the other in Grodich, or if they are the same people. This is complicated by the fact that there is such a large gap between the birth of John in 1743 and the next son, Robert, in 1750. However the Jacobite Rising of 1745 could also explain this gap if Alexander was out in The '45. If John is correctly accounted then he is not mentioned in Stewarts of the South and is presumed to have died young.
