Notes |
- The accounting of Lines 3 and 5 in Stewarts of the South is ambiguous and confusing. Line 3 is accounted as John Stewart, tacksman in Duart, with three sons, and his brother Donald in Aldonobreach in Aberfoil, with one son. While Line 5 is accounted as Donald Stweart, cottager in Aldannabreach in Aberfoil, with one son, who is brother to John Stewart in Wester Brig o' Turk. Either there are two sets of cousins with identical names in nearly identical residences, or the author of Stewarts of the South has recorded the same family twice. We are presently interpretting that Lines 3 and 5 are duplicate entries and that John Stewart in Duart and John Stewart in Wester Brig o' Turk are the same person. Thus we suggest that this John had three sons.
