• Notes

Mary Stewart was born 6 Jun 1841 in Wood Lane on the Blair Drummond Moss in Kincardine by Doune parish, Perthshire, Scotland as a daughter of James Stewart in Wood Lane and Mary Stewart. In the 1841 census, Mary Stewart is listed as two weeks old, residing in Wood Lane, Kincardine, Perthshire, Scotland, with her parents and siblings. Mary's father died sometime between 1841-1851 leaving Mary and her siblings in the care of their widowed young mother. According to the Stewarts in Edinample Tree (published in 1873), Mary Stewart married and unknown Edgar and had two children: Mary Edgar and James Edgar before 1873. This is confirmed by public records. On 24 Jan 1868, Mary Stewart married in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, to Joseph Edgar. Mary Edgar and her family have not been found in the 1871 census or later records. It's possible that they emigrated to an unknown location.
