- Margaret is found in 1841 as a 10 month old newborn residing with her parents. In 1851 she is incorrectly recorded (or transcribed) as "Alexander, daughter, age 16" and is employed as a straw hat maker. In 1871 she was residing with her parents and was employed as a "millamer"(?). In 1881 Margaret was residing with her widowed father and her children. Her husband, Walter Brown, was not residing with them. In 1891 Margaret is found residing at 270 Cumberland St., Hutchesontown, Govan, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland, with her brother-in-law, John Brown (b1861 in Glasgow, employed as a joiner), and her three children. Margaret was employed as a feather cleaner and straw hat maker.
