  According to Stewarts of the South John "Iain McDonachie" Stewart had four sons, only one of whom (Duncan) survived past 1815. However, parish records show that John actually had six sons, which means two of them must have died in childhood. We know the earlier Duncan died in childhood prior to the birth of the later Duncan. However, we do not know which of the other sons died in childhood and which survived long enough to be recorded in Stewarts of the South.
