• Notes

  Robert is found in the 1841-1861 census records in Doune, Kilmadock, Perthshire, Scotland. He has not been found in 1871 or 1881. In 1891 he is found with his family living in Cathcart near Glasgow working as a clerk. He died in 1905 at 6 Marchmont Terrace, Langside, Glasgow. His wife and children are found in Glasgow in 1871 and 1881 without him. Margaret was running a rooming house at the time. He left his estate to his daughter Maggie Dewar Stewart to compensate for putting her earnings as a teacher into the upkeep of the family home for many years.
