Kansas, Woodson Co. 17 Oct. 1891 appeared at District Court in Yates Center, Etta A. Brown, aged 28., daughter of Worthington Luce, Deceased, Late member in Co. B 136th. Regt. N.Y. Infty Vols, who is a resident of Yates Center. She declares she is the legitimate child of Worthington Luce who Enlisted at Canaseraga, NY on 28 Aug. 1862 in the war of Late Rebellian, discharged for disability 25 Jan. 1863 and died 19 Sept. 1864. The cause of death was resultant of chronic diarrhaea & throat disease. Died at Ossian Twp., Livingston Co., NY on 19 Sep. 1864 at home in NY. He left a surviving wido Catharine L. Luce, now Hatch, said widow remarried 7 Feb. 1872. That the above is the only surving legitimate child of Worthington along with William W. Luce who died Jan. 18, 1867, who were under 16 at the time of death of the veteran. Said children were the issue of soldier by Catharine L. Luce, as follows: Etta A. Luce, born April 12, 1862, and William W. Luce, born Oct. 30, 1864. (signed)

Luce born Oct. 30th 1864 at Ossian, NY. He died Jan'y 18th, 1867 at Beloit, Wis. and Etta A. Luce is the only surviving child. She married ab't ten years ago to Louis C. Brown, in Belloit, Wis.
