  Gordon MacGregor, The Red Book of Scotland, says, " Alexander Stewart, to whom and his brother Duncan and sisters Elizabeth and Ann, their father granted bonds of provision on 18 March 1744. He appears to be identical with the son of John Stewart of Benmore who is said to have died without children while in the West Indies."
