Notes - In 1841, at age 60, Duncan Stewart was residing at 14 Park in Drymen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, with his teenaged children. He was employed as a farmer.
In 1851, at age 73, Duncan Stewart was residing at Park, Drymen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, with his wife Margaret and their children. He was employed as a farmer of 150 acres (50 arable and 100 moor), employing three labourers. Also residing with them was Duncan's grandson, Archibald Stewart (10), and granddaughter, Margret Mcleod (7 mo.).
In 1860, Duncan's brother Walter's will refers to Duncan as a farmer in Buchlyvie.
In 1861, at age 88, Duncan Stewart was residing as a widower at Gartinstarry, Drymen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, with his sons, Robert and Duncan. He was employed as a farmer of 90 acres. Also residing with them Duncan's grandson, Archibald Stewart (20), granddaughter, Margaret Stewart (10), and granddaughter, Catherine Stewart (5).
Duncan's death registration records him as a widower of Margaret Graham, and lists his residence as Gartrustarrie in Drymen parish, Stirlingshire, Scotland. On modern maps it is recorded as Gartinstarry, located 3 km west of Buchlyvie, on the south side of the Flanders Moss.
