  In 1891, Donald was residing in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada with his parents and grandfather, Donald Work. In 1901, Donald was residing in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada as a lodger in the home of 40 year old Margaret Ross. She is presumably Donald's father's future second wife. In 1911, Donald Edgar Stewart was residing in Brantford, Brant, Ontario, Canada, as a roomer in the home of Charles M. Post, his future father-in-law. Donald was employed as a clerk in a fruit store. Residing next door was Kate Stewart, born 1878 (or 1898) in Scotland, living with the family of William McFarlane, born Aug 1864 in Ontario and his wife Sarah and daughter.
