  A descendant claim has been made that Alexander married in 1763 to Catherine Drummond with the following children: Janet 1764 John 1766 Duncan 1769 Alexander 1771 Betty 1774 Catherine 1777 James 1782 Onomastics suggests that this is not the correct family. The third son and daughter match the parents' names, however, the first son and first daughter do not match Duncan McNab and Mary Stewart. It is noteworthy that Alexander and Catherine had no daughter named Mary at all.
