He was not with his parents in 1870 in Indiana, USA, so he may have died young along with his youngest brother John Edward Ord. Or, as he would have been 20, he may have been on his own. The census is very distinct in noting that Robert's place of birth was "US" vs "UC" (Upper Canada) for the rest of his siblings.
