- From the Records of the Clan and Name of Fergusson/Ferguson and Fergus, edited by James Ferguson and Robert Menzies Fergusson (Edinburgh, 1899) says that Duncan belonged to the Fergusons of Auchlynne:
"There were others of the clan who lived opposite Immervoulin Farm at Beal-an-Ath, Mouth of the Ford. Duncan Fergusson, was one of these, whose son Donald was tenant in Kip Farm close to Strathyre, and was Eiltar-na-chip-elder. His son is Malcolm Fergusson, Callander, who is in the Earl of Ancaster's service as shepherd, a worthy and valued servant."
There are no dates given for this family so we don't know if this Duncan is the one mentioned in the quote or if this Duncan could be another son of Duncan in Immervoulin and a brother to Donald in Kip.
It says later:
"Peter Fergusson, shepherd, Auchinnar, Glenartney, was brother to Donald Fergusson, Kip Farm. He was for many years in the service of the late Donald M'Laren, banker and merchant, Callander, at Auchinnar, Glenartney, and died there in the sixties, a very fine man and a genuine true Highlandman. He was married to a sister of Mr. Fisher, of the Old Star Inn, Strathyre.'"
The reference to "the sixties" likely refers to the 1860s as the book was published in 1899.
No further children have been found for Duncan Ferguson and Helen McFarlane.
