• Notes

Mary McNie was born in 1763 in Lochearnhead, Balaquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, to Peter McNie and Janet McIntyre. Sometime prior to 1787, Mary's father moved the family from Lochearnhead to #9 Summerline on the Blair Drummond Moss, Kincardine by Doune, Perthshire, Scotland. On 19 May 1797, Mary McNie married in Kincardine by Doune, Perthshire, Scotland to Robert Stewart, whose family was residing at #7 Summerline. They had a family at Summerline. In 1814, Mary's brother, Peter McNie Jr, was the tenant of #9 Summerline. Mary's husband, Robert Stewart, is believed to have died sometime around 1818. (See his notes for a full explanation.) In 1942, Mary McNie sent a family bible to her son, Duncan, in Canada, with the following inscription" "This Bible is Sent from Summer Lane Blair Drummond Mofs to Duncan Stewart son of Robert Stewart late of that Place by his Mother Mary (or Marg) McNie as the best blefsing she can send and may God be with you and yours is the earnest Prayer of your Mother. Summerlane 26 May 1842" This would indicate that she was still alive in 1842 and that her husband was deceased.
