  Baptism: 17 Jul 1796 St Peter, Heysham, Lancashire, England John Dobson - Son of John Dobson & Margaret Born: 27 Jun 1796 Register: Baptisms 1792 - 1812, Page 7, Entry 1 John Dobson was recorded as being "of Aldcliffe" at the time of his marriage to Judith Miller of Scotforth. Aldcliffe is located just outside of Lancaster, about 2 km south of the castle. Scotforth was formerly a village, now a suburb of Lancaster, located about 4 km southeast of the castle. In 1823, John was employed as an innkeeper in Newton at the time of the birth of his first child, William. In 1824, John was employed as an publican (pub owner) in Newton at the time of the birth of his son, Thomas. Between 1831-1833 John and his family moved into Lancaster where he became a farmer.
