Notes - Mary Johnson was married firstly to William Fort who died in 1819. She married secondly in 1820 to Judge Charles Stewart. They had one known son who died in infancy. She is buried in Stewart 3 Cemetery in Woodville, Wilkinson, Mississippi, USA, with her second husband and their infanct son. There are no visible dates on her stone.

WILLIAM FORT, the oldest son, was born about 1760. He and his two brothers sold their inherited land in Edgecombe in February, 1797 and headed west in that year or 1798. He was in the territory of Mississippi in 1803. By 1806 he was in West Feliciana Parish where he undertook a joint farming operation with his brother John. William married Mary Johnston. His succession papers in Louisiana were recorded in 1827, but he died much earlier, in 1819. Mary in 1820 married Charles Stewart and moved with him to a plantation in Wilkinson County, Miss. She had no children by him. She died in 1839. William and Mary had one son: WILLIAM JOHNSTON FORT
