• Notes

  Duncan was recorded in his father-in-law's testament (Duncan McLaren in Ardveich and Derry) in 1851 as being a shepherd in Glenlyon. A later newspaper clipping of his son, Alexander, says that Duncan was a dairy farmer on the Aberuchill estate. In 1851, Duncan McNaughton was residing in Ardveich, Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland, with his wife and young children. He was employed as a shepherd. In 1861, Duncan McNaughton was residing at Tominor on the Aberuchill estate in Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland, with his wife and children. He was employed as a shepherd. In 1871, Duncan McNaughton was residing at Tominor on the Aberuchill estate in Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland, with his wife and children. He was employed as a shepherd. In 1881, Duncan was residing at Montilie House/Tomanor House on the Aberuchill estate in Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland with his family. He was employed as a shepherd.
