• Notes

  John Carmichael along with his family immigrated on the ship Curlew in the summer of 1818 and settled in London Township, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. On 20 May 1819, John Carmichael and friends wrote a letter to his brother Archibald Carmichael and others back in Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland, about their settlement in the Talbot Settlement, London Township, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada. He received a letter from his brother Archibald Carmichael, dated at Glentarken, 1 Jun 1831, in which his brother refers to their mutual siblings, Peter and Margaret. He sends the letter in the care of Malcolm McLaren who immigrated about that time and whose daughters married John's sons, Alexander and John.
