  In 1851, at age 37, Peter Stewart was residing at Easthope, Perth, Ontario, Canada with his wife, Catherine Miller (33) and their children, Alexander Stewart (6), Peter Stewart (4) and Catherine Stewart (2). Also residing with them was Ellen Monteath (11). Her relationship to the family is unknown. Their religion was Free Presbyterian Church. According to the census, their children were all born in Scotland but this is likely an error as Stewarts of the South says that this family was in Upper Canada by 1818. In 1861, Peter Stewart was residing in North Easthope, Perth, Ontario, Canada with his family. Peter and his family have not been found after 1861 and are presumed to have moved away.
