In 1861, at age 17, Mary Stewart was residing at Kirkton Farm, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, as a domestic servant to Donald McLaren (42), grandfather of her future husband. Also residing with them was her brother, Duncan Stewart (22), shepherd. Mary Stewart has not been found in 1871 In 1881, at age 36, Mary Stewart was residing at Kirkton Farm, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, with her husband, Donald McLaren, and their children. In 1891, at age 46, Mary Stewart was residing at Kirkton Farm, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland, with her husband Donald McLaren and their children. Also residing with them was Jemima Stewart (20), servant, born in Edinburgh.
