- Stewarts of the South c. 1815 says that Duncan "Oig" Stewart, son of Duncan Stewart, 5th of Glenbuckie, had three sons: "Alexander, his successor, James, and Donald."
The descendants of Duncan "Oig" Stewart are accounted as III, IV and V-Branches of the Stewarts of Glenbuckie. However, the descriptions of the origins of these branches contains contraditions which cannot be reconciled as described. The accounting shown here represents our best attempt to reconcile the conflicting descriptions.
It is believed that Donald Stewart had no surviving male lines.
In 1680, the testament for Donald Stewart in Edralechoch was registered. The deceased is believed to be the younger son of Duncan Oig Stewart, son of Duncan Stewart, 5th of Glenbuckie. He is presumed to have died without male heirs as no sons are named in the testament. The following people are named in the testament:
Christian Stewart, his sole executor (presumed to be his wife)
Duncan Stewart in Dallinlaggan (believed to be Duncan Stewart, 8th of Glenbuckie)
Alexander Stewart in Stronslany (Alexander Stewart, 8th of Gartnafuaran)
Robert Stewart of Ardvorlich (Robert Stewart, 3rd of Ardvorlich, d. 1680)
Alexander Stewart in Dullater (from 1-Line of the Invernhayle Stewarts in Lower Duart)
