Notes - Ann McIntyre was born 25 Jan 1814 in Carnlia, Glen Beich, Balquhidder, Perthshire, Scotland as a daughter of Duncan mac Patrick McIntyre and Margaret nic Donald Stewart. (Confirmed by her death registration.)
Ann was likely raised at nearby Ardveich, right across the Beich Burn from Carnlia in Glen Beich, as she consistently gives her place of origin as Comrie in later census records, rather than Balquhidder. The dividing line between the parishes of Balquhidder and Comrie is the Beich Burn itself. The residences of Carnlia and Ardveich are adjacent to each other, a mere 100 yards or so apart, but they sit on opposite sides of the burn and the parish boundary.
In 1829, Ann's sister, Christian McIntyre married in Kilmadock, Perthshire, Scotland, John Stewart, the brother of Ann's future husband, Donald Stewart.
In 1831, Ann's brother, Peter McIntyre, led a large expedition of emigrants from the north shore of Loch Earn to Renfrew, Ontario, Canada. Ann's brother-in-law, John Stewart, was part of that expedition. Ann's later son, Alexander Stewart would later join move to Canada with his relatives.
On 7 Oct 1834 in Kilmadock, Perthshire, Scotland, Ann McIntyre married to her childhood neighbour and first cousin-once-removed, Donald Stewart. He was from Wester Ardveich. (This marriage made her sister Christian and brother-in-law John Stewart double-in-laws, as well as cousins on both sides.)
Ann and Donald had one (known) child, Margaret, in 1836 in Kilmadock before moving to Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland by Nov 1837, where their next child was born.
Ann Stewart and Donald Stewart have not been found in 1841.
In 1851, at age 36, Ann Stewart was residing at Mar Place in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, with her husband and their young children. She was shown as being born in Comrie parish rather than Balquhidder parish.
In 1861, at age
Ann Stewart, widow of Donald Stewart, labourer, died at North Street, Alloa, Clackmannanshire, on 14 July 1888, age 73, daughter of Duncan McIntyre, farmer (deceased), and Ann Stewart (sic, Margaret Stewart). Informant: John Stewart, son.
