Notes - John Stewart was born about 1755 either in Balquhidder or Kincardine by Doune parish in Perthshire, Scotland. His first marriage in Kincardine shows "both in this parish". His second marriage was in Balquhidder with John from Balquhidder and Euphemia from Balquhidder. However, the 1814 Moss Census shows him being from Balquhidder. There are no matching births found in Kincardine. There are two matching births in Balquhidder, so he is more likely from Balquhidder.
"John Stewart, Summerline Flander's Moss, of the same family (Glenbuckie). What you call a real hidden treasure, condemned, I may say, to real slavery, though voluntary, and has not left his match in Balquhidder for honesty and integrity. And I cannot but think it a pity that human affairs should be at times so ordered not much more thought of here than an old horse."
John matches the descriptions of Glenbuckie II.2, II.3, and VI.3b.
"1794 May 7 John Stewart and Janet Ferguson both parishioners." (Kincardine by Doune Parish Register)
"1807 Decr 26 John Stewart parish of Kincardine and Effy Ferguson of this parish contracted for marriage." (Balquhidder Parish Register)
In 1814, at age 60, John Stewart was residing at #12 Summers Lane with his second wife and their two youngest children -- Jean/Janet from his first marriage and Mary from his second marriage. The previous occupant is listed as Alexander Stewart, suspected to be his brother.

This family is not accounted for -- (Possibly Glenbuckie 2.2 _____ in Summerline! or 2.3 Iain Riach Mor in Cambusbarron (John Stewart in Summerline's children ended up in Cambusbarron. John could be Iain Riach Mor)
James STEUART and Margaret STEUART in Wester Achtow, Craig Ruidh, Castaran, Dallanlaggan and Invercarnaig. The thirty year age spread for the children of this family makes it unlikely that we are dealing with only a single family. In the absence of marriages or other information it makes it difficult to know for sure. However if we are dealing with two families then it would seem reasonable to suggest that the Invercarnaig births are all one family and the other births could comprise a second or even third family. The Dallanlaggan birth would be a toss-up as to which family to account it with.
1. John STEUART, bap. 2 AUG 1753 or 9 AUG 1753 (hard to read) in Wester Achtow.
