• Notes

Andrew Stewart was born 28 Jun 1747 in Ballochneck, Drymen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, as a son of John Stewart and Elizabeth McFarlane. He is likely the following Andrew Stewart from Stewarts of the South Appendix: 14. Mr Andrew Stewart, miller of Cabeal Larach Mill, [which was] one of the chief rendezvous of Rob Roy McGregor. [He is] an industrious character. £50. [In] Drymen Parish. (Chappellaroch is near Back Borland.) No marriage record has been found for his relationship with Catherine McDonald. They had six children in Drymen parish. His last son, Andrew, indicated that he came from Back Borland at the time of his marriage.
